📦 Orders & Shipping

How long does shipping take?

Orders are processed within 1 business day and shipped via FedEx. Delivery takes 2–3 business days depending on your location — we operate warehouses on both the East Coast and West Coast to cover the full continental US. Most customers receive their order within 3–4 days from the time of purchase.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Free shipping on all orders, every day, with no minimum order value. No promo codes needed — it's always free.

Is tax included in the price I see?

Yes. Every price on GoldRiff.com includes tax. The price you see is the total price you pay. There are no additional charges at checkout.

How do I track my order?

You'll receive a shipping confirmation email with your FedEx tracking number within 24 hours of your order shipping. Use the link in that email or visit goldriff.com/apps/trackyourorder to follow your delivery in real time.

Can I change my shipping address after placing an order?

If your order hasn't shipped yet, contact us immediately at support@goldriff.com and we can update the address. Once the order has been picked up by FedEx, the address can't be changed — so please double-check your shipping address at checkout.

My package arrived damaged. What should I do?

Contact us at support@goldriff.com within 48 hours of delivery. Send us clear photos of the damaged product and the exterior shipping box. We'll file a carrier claim and send a free replacement at no cost to you.

My package shows as delivered but I haven't received it. What do I do?

First, check around all entry points to your home — porch, back door, mailroom, with neighbors, or at a building reception. FedEx sometimes leaves packages in non-obvious spots. If you still can't locate it after checking, contact us at support@goldriff.com and we'll investigate with the carrier.

I ordered multiple items. Will they arrive atthe same time?

Multi-item orders may ship in separate packages from different warehouses to ensure safe packaging. If this happens, you'll receive individual tracking numbers for each package. Allow 1–2 extra days for
all packages to arrive.

Which states do you ship to?

We ship to all 48 contiguous US states. We currently do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.), military addresses (APO/FPO/DPO), or P.O. Boxes.

↩ Returns & Warranty

What is your return policy?

We offer a 30-day return policy. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase for any reason, contact us within 30 days of receiving your order and we'll take care of it — no complicated process, no lengthy explanations required.

How do I start a return?

Email support@goldriff.com with your order number and the reason for your return. Our team will respond within 1 business day with instructions. Please return items in their original packaging.

Is return shipping free?

Yes. If there's a defect, damage, or we made an error with your order, we provide a prepaid return label at no cost. For returns due to personal preference, return shipping is also covered for all orders — we want the process to be as easy as possible.

How long does it take to receive my refund?

Once we receive your returned item, we process the refund within 3–5 business days. Your bank or card issuer may take an additional 3–7 days to post the credit to your account.

What does the 1-year warranty cover?

If your instrument has a defect that isn't caused by normal wear, accidental damage, or misuse, we'll repair or replace it free of charge during the warranty period. Contact support@goldriff.com to initiate a warranty claim.

My item arrived defective or I received the wrong item. What do I do?

Contact us at support@goldriff.com right away. We'll ship the correct or replacement item immediately and handle all return shipping at our cost. You don't need to wait for the return to be processed before we send the replacement.

Can I exchange my item for a different color or model?

🎸 Electric Guitars

What size guitar should I buy — 30" or 39"?

It depends on age and hand size. As a general guide: the 30" short-scale kit is designed for children aged 5–10. The shorter fret spacing makes chord shapes much more manageable for small hands. The 39" full-scale kit is for ages 12 and up, including adults of any age. For children aged 11–12, try to gauge their hand size — taller kids closer to adult height can usually manage the 39".

→ See our full size guide: goldriff.com/blogs/buying-guides/electric-guitar-size-guide-30-vs-39-inch

Is the 39" guitar good for absolute beginners with no experience?

Yes — it's designed specifically for people starting from zero. The C-shaped maple neck is comfortable for new players, the HSS pickups give you a wide range of sounds to explore, and the complete kit means you won't need to research or buy additional gear. The included online lesson access gives you a structured starting point from day one.

What exactly comes in the kit? Do I need to buy anything else?

No additional purchases needed. The 39" kit includes: electric guitar, 10W Bluetooth practice amp, instrument cable, digital clip tuner, padded gig bag, extra string set, 6 guitar picks, guitar strap, tremolo bar, clean cloth, and online lesson access. The 30" kids kit includes: guitar, 5W practice amp, instrument cable, digital tuner, padded gig bag, extra strings, picks, strap, cable, and clean cloth.

How does the Bluetooth amp work?

The included 10W amp has a Bluetooth receiver built in. Turn it on, go to your phone's Bluetooth settings, and connect — it appears as a standard audio device. Once paired, music from Spotify, YouTube, or any app on your phone plays through the amp while you play guitar through the same speaker. You can still use the amp as a standard wired practice amp if you prefer — Bluetooth is an optional feature, not a requirement.

Can I play electric guitar without the amp?

Technically yes — the strings produce a small acoustic sound without amplification. But you won't get the actual electric guitar tone. For any real practice session, plug into the amp. Even at low volume (3–4 out of 10), the amp is what makes an electric guitar sound like an electric guitar.

What does the 5-way pickup selector switch do?

It selects which pickups are active. Position 1 (toward the bridge) = bridge humbucker only — the brightest, punchiest tone. Position 5 (toward the neck) = neck single-coil only — the warmest, fullest tone. Positions 2, 3, and 4 combine different pickups for in-between sounds. Experimenting with all five positions is one of the first things new players should do — you'll hear a noticeable difference with each setting.

What is an HSS pickup configuration?

HSS stands for Humbucker-Single-Single — it refers to the three pickups on the guitar body. The humbucker at the bridge position gives you a full, warm tone good for rhythm and rock. The single-coil pickups at the middle and neck positions give you brighter, cleaner tones. The 5-way selector switch lets you choose between all five pickup combinations. For a beginner, this means you can explore a wide range of sounds from one guitar without needing to upgrade for years.

When should I change the strings?

Every 3–4 months with regular daily practice, or sooner if the strings look discolored, feel rough, or sound dull. Your kit includes a spare set of strings — use them when needed. For step-by-step instructions on changing strings, see Guitar Month 3 Week 1 in our Classroom series.

→ String change guide: goldriff.com/blogs/classroom/guitar-month-3-string-change-guide

Are all 5 colors the same price?

Yes. Black, Sunburst, Red, Pink, and Blue are all the same price. Color availability is subject to stock.

What is the guitar's scale length?

The 39" kit has a full-scale length of approximately 25.5" — the same as a standard Fender Stratocaster. The 30" kids kit has a short-scale length of approximately 22–23". Scale length is the playable string length and determines fret spacing — shorter scale = closer frets = easier for smaller hands.

🎹 Digital Pianos

What's the difference between the GoldRiff Home, GoldRiff Studio, and GoldRiff Professional?

Three different pianos for three different priorities. GoldRiff Home ($179): semi-weighted 88 keys, DREAM SAM5000 sound engine, 128 tones, 3-pedal unit, beautiful wood-finish cabinet — best value for home use. GoldRiff Studio ($299): graded hammer action 88 keys (heavier bass, lighter treble — closest to acoustic piano feel), Bluetooth MIDI for wireless app connection, 25W speaker — best for serious beginners using learning apps. GoldRiff Professional ($299): weighted hammer action, furniture stand and 3-pedal unit included out of the box, 238 tones — best complete home piano setup.

What is the DREAM SAM5000 sound engine?

GoldRiff pianos use the DREAM SAM5000 audio chip — developed by DREAM S.A.S., a French audio DSP company that has been supplying professional audio technology to instrument manufacturers worldwide since 1987. The SAM5000 supports up to 256-voice polyphony and includes sympathetic string resonance modeling — the acoustic effect where unstrück strings vibrate in response to the ones you're playing. This is what gives a digital piano its dimensional, layered sound rather than a flat keyboard tone. The same technology is typically found in instruments priced significantly higher.

Do your pianos work with Simply Piano, Flowkey, or GarageBand?

Yes: all three GoldRiff pianos are compatible with Simply Piano, Flowkey, Playground Sessions, GarageBand, and all major piano learning apps. The GoldRiff Studio and GoldRiff Professional connect wirelessly via Bluetooth MIDI — go to your app's settings, select Bluetooth MIDI, and your piano appears as a device. The GoldRiff Home connects via USB MIDI cable (not included but standard to any computer or tablet running these apps).

→ Step-by-step app connection guide: goldriff.com/blogs/classroom/piano-week-1-setup-first-note

Do I need 88 keys, or can I start with a 61-key keyboard?

For any serious piano learning, 88 full-size keys is strongly recommended. Classical repertoire uses the full range of the keyboard. Even pop and contemporary music regularly requires notes in the extreme low and high registers. A 61-key instrument will limit what you can play after the first few months and develop incorrect hand position habits. All three GoldRiff pianos have 88 full-size velocity-sensitive keys.

What is graded hammer action, and why does it matter?

On an acoustic piano, the bass keys are heavier to press than the treble keys — because the hammers striking the lower strings are physically larger. Graded hammer action (GHA) replicates this weight variation across the keyboard. The GoldRiff Studio has GHA; the low keys feel heavier, the high keys feel lighter, just like a real piano. This matters for two reasons: your hands develop the correct finger strength and technique, and the muscle memory you build transfers directly to acoustic pianos. The GoldRiff Home uses semi-weighted action — spring resistance without gradation — which is good for beginners but doesn't replicate the acoustic piano feel as closely.

Does the GoldRiff Home come with a stand?

Yes. The GoldRiff Home has a built-in wood-finish cabinet with integrated legs — it's a freestanding instrument, no separate stand needed. It sits on its own legs and looks like a piece of home furniture.

Does the GoldRiff Studio come with a stand?

No. The GoldRiff Studio is a portable keyboard chassis — slim, lightweight, and designed for flexibility. It needs a separate stand. We recommend the GoldRiff Z-Frame Keyboard Stand ($55), which includes caster wheels and adjustable height and width.

What apps are compatible with GoldRiff digital pianos?

Any app that supports Bluetooth MIDI (for GoldRiff Studio/GoldRiff Professional) or USB MIDI (for all three models) will work. This includes Simply Piano, Flowkey, Playground Sessions, Skoove, GarageBand, Logic Pro, Ableton, and all professional DAWs. If an app has a "Connect your piano" feature, it will work with GoldRiff.

What pedals come with each piano?

GoldRiff Home: includes a 3-pedal unit (damper, soft, sostenuto) that connects to the underside of the cabinet. GoldRiff Studio: includes a single sustain (damper) pedal. GoldRiff Professional: includes a 3-pedal unit plus the complete furniture stand — it's a full home piano setup out of the box.

Is the wood finish on the GoldRiff Home real wood?

It's a wood-finish material — not solid hardwood, but designed to look like a proper piece of home furniture rather than a plastic practice instrument. The GoldRiff Home fits naturally in a living room, bedroom, or study without the industrial look of most entry-level digital pianos.

🥁 Electronic Drums

Can I practice silently with headphones?

Yes. Every electronic drum module has a standard 3.5mm headphone output. Plug in headphones and the internal speakers automatically mute — you hear everything through your headphones only. This is the standard practice mode for most electronic drummers who want to practice without disturbing others.

What styles of music can I play on an electronic drum kit?

Any style. Electronic drum kits come with hundreds of sounds covering rock, pop, jazz, funk, Latin, hip-hop, metal, and more. The module's preset drum kits are voiced for different genres — switching between them lets you match the kit to whatever you're practicing. Most beginner modules include 100–200+ sounds.

Do I need to be able to read music to learn drums?

No. Drums are primarily taught through rhythm and repetition, not sheet music notation. Most beginner drum education (including GoldRiff's Classroom curriculum) uses simplified rhythm notation or video-based teaching that doesn't require reading traditional sheet music. Learning to read drum notation can come later, after you've developed basic coordination and feel.

What age is electronic drums suitable for?

Electronic drum kits are generally suitable for children aged 7 and up with adult supervision. The key factor is the child's ability to operate a foot pedal — children under 5 often lack the leg coordination for the bass drum pedal. For ages 5–6, a basic electronic pad set (without full pedal setup) is a better starting point.

What is the difference between mesh pads and rubber pads?

Mesh pads use a woven fabric surface stretched over a frame — they bounce back like a real drumhead, feel responsive, and produce minimal noise. Rubber pads are solid rubber surfaces that feel harder, bounce less naturally, and are noticeably louder. For beginners, mesh pads are strongly recommended: they're more comfortable to practice on for long sessions, feel closer to acoustic drums, and are quieter for household practice.

Are electronic drums kits quiet?

Mesh rubber foam acoustic drums, but not completely silent. Mesh drum pads reduce impact noise significantly compared to rubber pads or acoustic skins — you'll hear a soft thump rather than a loud crack. For fully silent practice, plug standard headphones (3.5mm) into the drum module's headphone output and the built-in speakers won't produce any sound. Most electronic drummers in apartment buildings practice with headphones for this reason.

⭐ About GoldRiff

What makes GoldRiff different from other music brands?

GoldRiff instruments are manufactured in the same factory tier as Fender, Yamaha, Alesis, and Donner — the same professional component suppliers and manufacturing standards used by the biggest names in music. The difference is how we sell: direct to consumers online, with no retail channel markup. That's why a complete GoldRiff electric guitar kit with a 10W Bluetooth amp costs $129, while a comparable Fender beginner package costs around $299.

Is GoldRiff the same factory as Fender and Yamaha?

"Same factory tier" means the same level of professional component suppliers and manufacturing standards — not literally the same physical building. Fender has its own US production facilities for premium models. What GoldRiff shares with these brands is the supply chain quality level: the hardware, electronics, and build standards come from the same professional manufacturing ecosystem.

Where do GoldRiff instruments ship from?

All orders ship from GoldRiff's US-based warehouses. We operate distribution points on both the East and West Coast to ensure 2–3 day delivery across the contiguous 48 states.

Is there a physical store where I can try GoldRiff instruments?

GoldRiff has a headquarter play center in Tokyo. We offer a 30-day return policy so you can try any instrument at home with no risk — if it's not right for you, returning it is straightforward.

Does GoldRiff offer instruments for intermediate or professional players?

Currently, GoldRiff focuses entirely on beginner instruments. Our philosophy is that the beginner market has been underserved — most beginners quit within six months, often because they didn't get the right instrument or the right support to start. We're building the content system and instrument quality to fix that. Instruments for intermediate players are on the roadmap.

🎵 Learning & Setup

I'm a complete beginner. Where do I start?

Start with the GoldRiff Classroom — a free 3-month beginner curriculum available for every instrument we sell. Week 1 covers unboxing, setup, and making your first sound. Each subsequent lesson builds on the last, with clear practice instructions and step-by-step photos. It's designed specifically for adults and children starting from zero, with no assumed music knowledge.

Do you have video tutorials?

We're building a full video series for every instrument — currently in production. In the meantime, the GoldRiff Classroom blog series covers every step in written format with detailed photos. For supplementary video content, our YouTube channel has setup and getting-started content.

How do I connect my piano to Simply Piano, Flowkey, or other learning apps?

Go to Settings → MIDI → Bluetooth MIDI, and select your GoldRiff piano from the list.

How do I connect my guitar amp's Bluetooth to stream backing tracks?

Turn on your GoldRiff 10W amp. On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and select the amp from the list of available devices. Once connected, music from any app on your phone — Spotify, YouTube, GuitarTuna — plays through the amp alongside your guitar signal.

How long will it take to learn guitar or piano or drum?

With 15–20 minutes of daily practice, most beginners can play their first complete song within 6–8 weeks. The GoldRiff Classroom curriculum is structured around 3 months of consistent practice — by the end of Month 3, you'll have a solid foundation of chords, songs, and technique. Progress is almost entirely a function of consistency: 15 minutes every day beats 2 hours once a week.

How do I set up my instrument on the first day?

Follow our Week 1 Classroom lesson for your instrument — it walks you through unboxing, connecting everything, and making your first sound in 20 minutes.
